/api/data/withholding_tax_rates
What a payer in Ghana must withhold from a payment and pay to the Ghana Revenue Authority, by type of payment, for resident and non-resident payees, with which are final taxes and the GH¢2,000 a year threshold for goods, works and services. As GRA's table gives them; GRA does not date each rate, so each row is marked from the start of the 2026 year of assessment. 18 records.
/api/data/digital_address_codes
The region letters and district codes that begin every GhanaPostGPS digital address (GA-183-8164 is in Accra, Greater Accra), as Ghana Post lists them: 16 region letters and 261 district codes. Addresses issued before a district or region was split keep their original code. Names as Ghana Post gives them, with capitalisation tidied. 277 records.
/api/data/mobile_number_prefixes
Which network each Ghana mobile number prefix (024, 054, 0256…) was allocated to, from the National Communications Authority's numbering plan and Ghana's numbering filing to the ITU. Numbers can be ported between networks, so a prefix shows the network a number started on. National numbers are nine digits after the leading 0; the country code is +233. 15 records.
/api/data/public_holiday_dates
Ghana's public holidays as the government declares them each year under the Public Holidays Act, 2001 (Act 601) as amended: the dates people actually have off, including the Eid dates and any holiday moved to a Friday or Monday, with commemorative days that are not holidays marked as such. Kept by hand from the Ministry of the Interior's announcements; a year is added once it is announced. 17 records.
/api/data/import_duty_bands
The import duty rates Ghana charges on the customs value of goods, by band of the ECOWAS Common External Tariff, with the kinds of goods in each and examples from GRA's tariff. The rate for a particular product is set by its HS code in GRA's tariff. 5 records.
/api/data/import_levies
Every levy, fee and tax Ghana charges on a commercial import besides the duty, with its rate, what it is charged on (the customs value, the value plus duty, the FOB value, or a flat fee), which goods it applies to and when, as GRA's customs system (ICUMS) charges them. Import VAT, NHIL and GETFund are charged on the customs value plus duty since 1 January 2026; the 1% COVID-19 levy is abolished. 15 records.
/api/data/vehicle_import_rules
How Ghana's customs values and taxes an imported vehicle: the duty rate by type and engine size, the share of the first purchase price used as the value by age (Customs Act, 2015, s.60), and the overage penalty by age for cars, buses and trucks (the Schedule to s.57). A Customs Act, 2026 was signed in August 2026 and may change these once it commences. 29 records.
/api/data/tbill_auctions
Every Ghana treasury bill auction the Bank of Ghana lists: the issue date, tender number, security (91, 182 and 364-day bills, and bonds sold at the same auction), the discount rate and the interest rate. Source: Bank of Ghana.
/api/data/bank_sort_codes
Every bank branch sort code in Ghana's clearing house, as GhIPSS publishes them: the six-digit code, split into the bank (the first two digits), the clearing zone and the branch number, with the bank and branch names. Covers the licensed banks, the Bank of Ghana, and the rural and community banks through ARB Apex. Source: GhIPSS. 1669 records.
/api/data/earthquakes
Every earthquake the U.S. Geological Survey has catalogued with an epicentre in Ghana or its coastal waters, from 1939-06-22 to 2020-06-24: time, magnitude, depth, epicentre and the region and district it lies in. Most sit on the fault zone west of Accra, around Weija, Gbawe and Kasoa, including the magnitude 6.4 earthquake of 22 June 1939. This is the global network's record, so it holds the larger events and few small ones: the Ghana Geological Survey Authority records many minor tremors that are not here, and some older events have no magnitude. Sourced from the USGS ANSS Comprehensive Catalog, public domain. 18 records.
/api/data/fire_activity_monthly
How much burned where, month by month from 2000 to 2024: the number of vegetation fire detections NASA's MODIS satellites made in each Ghanaian district, how many of them were high confidence (80 or more), and their total and peak fire radiative power in megawatts. A district-month with no detections has no row. Gas flares and other static heat sources are left out, so the numbers follow the bush-burning season. Counts are satellite detections of 1 km pixels, not separate fires, and are consistent across the whole period because one instrument made them all. Built from NASA FIRMS (MODIS Collection 6.1), public domain. 28021 records.
/api/data/tree_cover_loss
How much tree cover each of Ghana's districts lost, every year from 2001 to 2025, in hectares, measured from Landsat satellite imagery by the University of Maryland and published by Global Forest Watch. Each row also gives the district's tree cover in 2000, the loss of humid primary forest (where the district has any; NULL where it has none), and the greenhouse gas emitted by that year's loss in tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Tree cover means vegetation over 5 metres tall at 30% canopy density or more, so it includes cocoa, rubber and oil palm as well as natural forest, and loss includes harvests and fires, not only deforestation. The driver behind each hectare is in tree_cover_loss_by_driver. Sourced from Global Forest Watch (Hansen et al. 2013; Harris et al. 2021), CC BY 4.0. 6500 records.
/api/data/tree_cover_loss_by_driver
Why each district lost its trees, year by year from 2001 to 2025: hectares of tree cover loss split by the dominant driver of the 1 km cell it happened in — permanent agriculture (cocoa, oil palm, other crops), hard commodities (mining and energy, the closest open measure of galamsey), shifting cultivation, logging, wildfire, settlements and infrastructure, and other natural disturbances. The driver is modelled for each cell over the whole period, so it says what most of the loss there was caused by, not what caused every hectare. A district-year-driver with no loss has no row. At 30% canopy density, matching tree_cover_loss. Sourced from Global Forest Watch (WRI and Google DeepMind, Sims et al. 2025), CC BY 4.0. 12134 records.
/api/data/bog_exchange_rates_daily
The Bank of Ghana's daily interbank buying, selling and mid rates for the 19 currencies it quotes, one row per currency per date, from 1996 (old cedis before July 2007; see rate_basis and unit). Placeholder zeros and plain keying errors are NULL, with the published figure in quality_note. Source: Bank of Ghana.
/api/data/common_fund_releases
How much of the District Assemblies Common Fund was released to each of Ghana's 261 metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies, one row per assembly and quarter, from Q1 2012 to Q1 2026, in Ghana cedis, as published on the DACF Administrator's portal. There is a level break in 2025: releases jump from about GH¢0.4–0.6bn a year to GH¢4.4bn because from 2025 the government pays at least 80% of the Fund directly to assemblies (the Finance Minister said only 40–50% reached them in 2017–2024), so compare years before and after 2025 with care. Q4 2024 is 0 for every assembly as published (the portal's 2024 total covers Q1–Q3 only), later quarters not yet released are left out, and historical releases carry today's assembly names, so a row before the 2018–2019 splits belongs to the larger parent assembly; district is matched to the catalogue's district boundaries and is NULL for Guan, which has none. Sourced from the Office of the District Assemblies Common Fund Administrator, published by the DACF Administrator (no licence stated). 13717 records.
/api/data/cpi_inflation_monthly
Ghana's Consumer Price Index and inflation from the Ghana Statistical Service, one row per month, place, product group and measure: the index (2021 = 100), year-on-year inflation and month-on-month inflation, in percent. The national series runs from January 1998 (year-on-year inflation from January 1999) for all items, food, non-food and the 13 COICOP 2018 divisions, with locally produced and imported items from January 2021; the 16 regions run from January 2021 (year-on-year inflation from January 2022; StatsBank also gives regional non-food inflation for the second half of 2021). Figures before 2021 are GSS's chain-linked back-cast onto the 2021 basket and base, marked back_cast = true: they are not the rates announced at the time, and for some years (around 2000-2001 especially) they differ from them by many points, so cite a back-cast figure as GSS's current series, not as the rate announced then. StatsBank is updated less often than GSS's monthly CPI release; the last month in this table is January 2026, so later months GSS has announced are not here. Sourced from the Ghana Statistical Service (StatsBank table cpi.px), published by GSS. 59924 records.
/api/data/disaster_log
Ghana's disasters from 1939 to 2026 — floods, dam spillages, fires, explosions, building and mine collapses, crowd crushes, major road, boat and air accidents, epidemics, droughts, tidal surges, earthquakes and nationwide blackouts — with deaths, injuries, missing, displaced, affected and houses destroyed where a source states them. Every figure is cited: disaster_log_citations gives the page, publisher and date behind each number, official sources are preferred to the press, and where sources disagree the notes give the other figures. A figure no source states is NULL, never zero or an estimate; "more than N" is stored as N and noted. regions lists the present-day regions (the 16 created in 2019) covering the affected area, whatever the regions were called at the time. Events in the GLIDE register that could not be verified are included with no figures and verification set accordingly. Compiled by API Ghana from the cited sources, GLIDE (CC BY-IGO) and ReliefWeb (CC BY). 111 records.
/api/data/disaster_log_citations
The sources behind every figure in disaster_log: one row per figure per source, with the event it belongs to, which figure it supports (deaths, injured, missing, displaced, affected, houses_destroyed, or event for a source that establishes the event itself), the value used, and the URL, publisher and publication date of the page that states it. 262 citations across 97 events; every one was checked against the text of the page it points to when the log was compiled. Compiled by API Ghana; each row links to its own source. 262 records.
/api/data/electricity_peak_load
The highest electricity demand the grid met each year, 2000 to 2025, in megawatts. ghana_peak_mw is demand within Ghana — ECG, NEDCo, VRA's direct customers, the mines and VALCO — and system_peak_mw adds exports to neighbouring countries. Read against installed capacity and the dam levels in hydro_dam_levels, it shows how much headroom the system has before load shedding. Sourced from the National Energy Statistics 2026, "Ghana and System Peak Load (MW)", PDF page 27, compiled by the Commission from VRA and GRIDCo; official statistics republished with attribution. 26 records.
/api/data/electricity_reliability
How often and for how long electricity customers lose power, by distribution utility (ECG in the south, NEDCo in the north, EPC) and area (metro, urban, rural), 2020 to 2025: SAIFI is the average number of interruptions per customer in the year, SAIDI the average hours without power per customer, CAIDI the average hours to restore supply after an interruption. Each row carries the regulatory benchmark set by L.I. 1935 for that area, so a figure can be read against the standard. The Commission's published 2025 rows for ECG and NEDCo repeat 2024 exactly and are marked in note. EPC reports one figure for its whole area, kept under metro. Sourced from the National Energy Statistics 2026, "Electricity Distribution Reliability Indices", PDF page 39; official statistics republished with attribution. 40 records.
/api/data/electricity_transmission
Electricity carried on the national transmission grid each year, 2000 to 2025, and how much of it was lost on the way, in gigawatt-hours. losses_pct_published is the share as the Commission prints it; losses_pct_computed is losses divided by electricity transmitted from the same table. The two agree except for 2010-2017, where the printed share does not follow from the printed figures (by up to 0.5 points, in both directions); use the computed share for a consistent series. Sourced from the National Energy Statistics 2026, "Electricity Transmitted and Transmission Losses (GWh)", PDF page 28, compiled by the Commission from GRIDCo; official statistics republished with attribution. 26 records.
/api/data/gdp_quarterly
Ghana's quarterly gross domestic product by the production approach, from 2006Q1 to 2026Q1, one row per quarter, activity and measure: nominal value added at current prices and real value added at constant 2013 prices (GH¢ million), seasonally adjusted real GDP, year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter real growth (%), each activity's share of GDP at basic prices (%), and its contribution to real growth (percentage points). Activities are overall GDP, the three sectors (agriculture, industry, services), 20 subsectors, "of which" lines (cocoa, oil and gas, and the informal part of each sector), net indirect taxes, and non-oil and informal GDP. GSS revises recent quarters with each release and marks the latest ones provisional; this table holds the figures as of StatsBank's last update, so recent quarters can differ from the first press release. Year-on-year growth starts in 2007Q1 and contributions to growth in 2013Q1; shares are given for agriculture, industry, services only, and a figure StatsBank leaves blank has no row. Sourced from the Ghana Statistical Service (StatsBank table qgdp_p_px.px), published by GSS. 17818 records.
/api/data/government_fiscal_operations
Ghana's central government revenue, grants, expenditure by economic classification, overall balance and financing, from the Ministry of Finance's fiscal data workbooks for January 2018 to July 2026, one row per year, table (Summary, Revenue or Expenditure), line, measure and period, in millions of Ghana cedis. Each line has the annual budget and revised budget, and a programme target and provisional outturn for each month, quarter and year-to-date span. Month and quarter rows are that month or quarter alone; rows with is_cumulative = true run from January to end_month (period_type 'year_to_date' or 'full_year'), so never add them to monthly rows. Ratio lines (percent of GDP or of tax revenue) are left out, figures are provisional and are revised in later workbooks (the latest workbook's H1 2026 revenue is GH¢172m above the Mid-Year Review's), and the hierarchy (line_item_level, parent_line_item) is read from the workbook's indentation. Sourced from the Ministry of Finance, Ghana, published by the Ministry of Finance (no licence stated). 69319 records.
/api/data/hydro_dam_levels
The water level behind Ghana's two largest hydro dams at the end of every month — Akosombo from 2000 and Bui from 2014, to 2025 — in feet above sea level, with each dam's minimum operating level (240 ft and 550 ft) and how far above it the lake stood. Akosombo's lowest levels here (235 ft in July 2007, 238 ft through mid-2015) fall in years of national load shedding, and its highest (277 ft) was reached in 2010 and again in October 2023, the year of the Akosombo spillage. The published Bui figures for 2018 repeat 2017 month for month and are marked in note. Sourced from the National Energy Statistics 2026 (Energy Commission of Ghana); official statistics republished with attribution. 456 records.
